First responders demonstrate their dedication
Our first responders frequently demonstrate their commitment to keeping our communities safe.
That commitment is clear in their willingness to extinguish fires, to render medical aid to people injured in calamities and to confront people who are a risk to themselves or others.
But a less obvious demonstration to that commitment is their willingness to try new approaches to public safety.
An article in Thursday’s Sun-Gazette detailed how first responders are learning to use drones to assist firefighters and other emergency personnel in identifying the best way to fight a fire or to render assistance.
While we certainly are glad that our region’s first responders are quick to explore how new technologies can augment their efforts, we are not surprised at all.
Our fire departments, police forces, ambulance crews and other first responders have repeatedly demonstrated their dedication to public service.
We applaud their efforts and their hard work, and we hope the leaders of our communities will help them be adequately trained and equipped.
