Scott Riggle Leopold
Scott Riggle Leopold, 58, of Charlottesville, Va., passed away unexpectedly on Feb. 27, 2026.
Born on Feb. 15, 1968, in Lewistown, Pa., he was the son of the late Dr. A. Reid Leopold and Barbara Leopold of Charlotte, N.C.
Scott is survived by his beloved wife, Cindy Leopold, of Charlottesville, Va.; his stepchildren, Kristen (Will). of Crozet, Va., and Brian Riggs, of Richmond, Va.; and his cherished grandchildren, Chloe, Ellie, and Downey. He is also survived by his mother, Barbara Leopold; his siblings, Robert Leopold (Linda), of Indiana, Pa., Suzanne Cummings (Dick), of Simpsonville, S.C., and Michele Leopold, of Charlotte, N.C. In addition to his father, Scott was preceded in death by his brother, Randy Leopold.
A 1986 graduate of the Lewistown Area High School, Scott went on to attend the University of Colorado. He built a successful career as an orthopedic specialist in the medical device industry, most notably with Depuy Synthes. During his time there, he enjoyed unique opportunities, including participating in a Porsche road rally through the Swiss Alps. A proud member of the Porsche Club of America, Scott had a passion for and participated in Porsche track racing.
Scott found his greatest joy at home, especially spending time by the pool with his grandchildren.
He was an avid fan of wrestling and football, particularly cheering on the Virginia Cavaliers. A lover of the outdoors, Scott enjoyed skiing, mountain biking, and embracing nature whenever he could.
He will be remembered for his warm smile that could light up any room, his love of storytelling, and the deep connections he shared with family and friends. The beach held a special place in his heart especially the Outer Banks of North Carolina where he found peace walking along the shore, biking in the sand, and spending time with his dogs, Max and Chase.
Scott will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
A memorial service is planned for a future date.
