Ronald C. ‘R.C.’ Boaz

Ronald C. “R.C.” Boaz, 90, of Market St., McVeytown, went to be with the Lord on Friday, Feb. 13, 2026, at Brookline Manor in Mifflintown.

Born Feb. 28, 1935, in Mattawana, he was a son of the late George I. and Jennie M. (Harshbarger) Boaz. His wife, Sally Jean (Andrews) Boaz, whom he married July 6, 1963, preceded him in death on Oct. 16, 2025.

Also preceding him in death was a brother, Robert G. Boaz.

Surviving are: two daughters, Nikki S. Sunderland and husband Ed of McVeytown, Tami R. Ranck and husband Greg of Lewistown; two step children, David C. Stayrook and wife Janet Of Leesburg, Va., Eleanor A. Morrison and husband Daniel of Hershey; a brother, Marlin L. Boaz and wife Antina of Lewistown; four grandchildren, Justin Ranck (Kellyn), Jessica Everly (Anthony), Kelly Howell (Garrett), Brooke Yoder (Jacob); four step grandchildren, Sydney Stayrook (Adam), Oliver Stayrook, Lyndsay Jones-Morrison (Laura), Christopher Morrison (Rachel); eight great-grandchildren, Kyler, Kamden, Kalysa, Gradey, Gracie, Wyatt, Lennin, Logan; and two step great-grandchildren, Frances and Luke.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Army Reserves.

Ron retired from AT&T, where he was known as “Bear,” working many years as a foreman in the fiber optic cable division. He later helped as a funeral assistant at Harshbarger Funeral Home in McVeytown.

He was a member of McVeytown Presbyterian Church.

An avid hunter and fisherman, he also enjoyed traveling to NASCAR races and family trips to the beach.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Feb. 19, 2026, at McVeytown Presbyterian Church, 5 N. Queen St., with Pastor Kari Swigart officiating. Interment will be in Mattawana Cemetery, McVeytown.

A visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until the time of service Thursday at the church.
