‘How do you think your Valentine would like to celebrate this year?’

Larry Roscoe Leach, Mifflintown
There’s no one holding this eligible bachelor down, but Vietnam Army veteran Larry Leach did have a memorable Valentine’s Day with a lady he got to know on a bus trip. The two tried their luck at the Hollywood Casino, where she won more money than he did, and it was her first time there.
Kyle Schwenn, Lewistown
Kyle says his Valentine’s happiness rests entirely on his shoulders. It is his job to plan, and it is easy. Kyle’s girlfriend loves red roses and dining at Texas Roadhouse, where they enjoy ordering way too much food that they normally wouldn’t get, and trying new appetizers together.
Michael and Trudy McVicker, Rockville
When asked how long he and his lovely lady Trudy have been married, without skipping a beat, Vietnam Air Force veteran Michael McVicker replied, “28 years, 7 months, and 9 days.” The smiling couple both agreed that the best way to spend Valentine’s Day together is to just relax and enjoy life.
Sarah Wible, Lewistown
Sarah and her husband Adam, who have been married for 16 years and have a son and daughter together, believe that spending time together as a family is the most important. This year, steak, roasted veggies, and potatoes are on the menu, followed by fresh strawberry-spinach salad. To end on a relaxing note, they will watch the new “Anaconda” movie as a family.
John Yorks, Mifflin
Before deploying for Vietnam in 1968, Army Infantry Specialist John Yorks married his sweetheart, Dorothy. Fifty-eight years, two children and five grandchildren later, he still faithfully buys her flowers and candy. John makes sure to buy extra candy to share with Dorothy’s friends, and this year, they will all celebrate by playing Bingo and having a Valentine’s Day party.
