Jerry L. Walter

Jerry L. Walter, 79, of McClure passed away on Sunday, Feb. 15, 2026, at his home.

He was born Oct. 5, 1946, in Fancher, N.Y., a son of Marie E. (Gramley) Walter and the late Robert L. Walter. Jerry married the former Peggy L. Baker on Aug. 6, 1966, who preceded him in death on June 11, 2014.

Jerry was a graduate of West Snyder High School with the class of 1964.

Jerry served in the United States Army Reserves from 1966 to 1967.

He was a member of First United Methodist Church and attended Mount Bethel Church, both in McClure.

Jerry was employed by Lozier Corp. in McClure for 46 years and retired as a supervisor in 2010.

He was a member of the McClure American Legion Post 952. Jerry was an avid deer hunter for many years. He enjoyed making apple butter for the Knowlesville United Methodist Church. Jerry also enjoyed visiting his extended family in New York and spending time at his “happy place,” his late sons’ property.

Surviving in addition to his mother Marie are two sons, Mark (Carol) Walter and Jason (Nichole) Walter; five grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; three step grandchildren; one brother, Roger “Fuzz” (Linda) Walter; three sisters, Robetta Sipe, Sharon (Greg) Wright, and Beverly (Roy Sr.) Moyer; one foster sister, Juli (Todd) Jones; numerous nieces and nephews; and his companion of 11 years, Jane Hoffman.

He was preceded in death by one son, Christopher Walter.

A viewing will be held on Saturday, Feb. 21 from 9 to 10 a.m. at Kreamer Funeral Home, 130 S. Zechman St., Beavertown followed by the funeral service at 10 a.m. with Pastor Tad Schlegel and Rev. Kathy Mercado officiating.

Burial will follow in McClure Union Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, contributions to honor Jerry’s memory may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
