Louise Gramley
Louise Gramley, 82, passed away Friday, Jan. 16, 2026, at William Penn.
Born April 14, 1943, in Lewistown, she was the daughter of the late Samuel W. Dill Sr. and Alleane L. Baumgardner Dill.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Jerry Alton Gramely Sr; and a brother, John Dill.
She is survived by her son, Jerry A. ‘Cork’ Gramley Jr. and wife, Gwen, of Reedsville; grandsons, Travis Gramley and wife, Melissa, Brock Gramley and wife, Ashley; and a brother, Samuel Dill Jr.
Louise attended Grove Memorial United Church where she attended Bible Study classes to learn scripture, and grow in faith.
She was a graduate of Lewistown High School.
Louise worked as a teacher at Buchanan Elementary School. Her commitment to teaching played an important part in the school’s community and in the lives of the children she taught. She served as an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) with the Milroy Fire Company for more than 40 years. In addition to her service as an EMT, she was also an EMT instructor with the State of Pennsylvania. Through this role, she helped train and mentor aspiring EMTs, ensuring that the next generation of emergency responders was well-prepared to serve the public.
During her leisure time, she found great joy in being with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She had a passion for quilting, dedicating many hours to this creative and relaxing hobby. She enjoyed traveling, particularly going on cruises. Among her travels, her trip to Hawaii stood out as a favorite experience that she cherished deeply. Her love for animals was especially evident in her affection for dogs and sea turtles. She delighted in collecting sea turtle trinkets. In addition to her other hobbies, she also had an appreciation for fast cars.
Private services will be held at the convenience of the family.
Arrangements are under the care of Heller-Hoenstine Funeral Home, Burnham.
