Frank A. Bonson

Frank A. Bonson, 87, of Milroy, peacefully passed away at his home on Sunday, Jan. 18, 2026.

Born on Feb. 13, 1938, he was the son of the late James A. and Alberta (Hackett) Bonson. On March 21, 1958, he married Barbara L. (Keeny) Bonson, who survives at their home.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by children: Robin D. Charles of Milroy, Sally J. Bilger and husband James L. of Mill Creek, Pa., Thad A. Bonson and wife Aida of Lewistown; five grandchildren: Matthew Charles and fiancée, Jody Brehman of Milroy, Benjamin Charles and wife Casey of Lewistown, Joyara Keller and husband Jake of Mill Creek, Thad J. Bonson of Lewistown, Savannah Bonson of Lewistown; six great- grandchildren; and a brother, Marlin Bonson of Reedsville.

Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by siblings: Anne Coulter, J. Howard “Son” Bonson, Armilda Miller and Emily Bonson.

Frank was a 1955 graduate of Armagh-Brown High School and was a lifelong dairy farmer. He served as an Armagh Township tax auditor and worked as an artificial breeder for Sire Power.

He genuinely loved his family and looked forward to everyone “coming home” on Sundays for supper. One of his greatest joys was breaking bread with anyone.

Frank was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Siglerville. He served as a Sunday school teacher for many years, and served on the St. John’s Church Cemetery Committee. He was involved for many years with 4-H, Senior Ext. and the Mifflin County Youth Fair.

He was a member of the PA Farm Bureau and received the Distinguished Local Affairs Leader Award. A member of the Milroy Lions Club and was very involved with the benefit spaghetti dinners. He received the Melvin Jones Fellow Humanitarian Award from the Lion’s Club International. He was a member of the Mifflin County Conservation District and served on the Mifflin County Agricultural Stabilization Conservation Committee from 1983 to 1992 and received an award for outstanding service and grateful appreciation to the farmers of Mifflin County. He was also a member of the Youth Park Board. Frank was very involved with Meet the Candidate Night and the MCC Canning Projects. He was very active on a personal level with the Amish community, especially assisting with their benefit sales. He enjoyed raising ponies, rabbits and goats. He and his wife enjoyed going to sales together. He loved history and was a huge history buff. He loved people and enjoyed talking and visiting with anyone and would help anyone in need.

His family would like to extend a special thank you to his wonderful, loving and kind caregivers.

A celebration of life service will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 24, 2026, at Henderson-Bohn Funeral Home, 6880 State Route 655, Reedsville with Pastor David Gingrich officiating. His family will receive friends from 1 p.m. until the time of service on Saturday.
