Daniel F. Bartos
Daniel F. Bartos, 75, of Mount Carmel, passed away on Thursday, Jan. 8, 2026, in his home.
Born in Mount Carmel on Oct. 18, 1950, he was a son of the late Edward R. and S. Frieda (Rakocy) Bartos.
Dan was a 1968 graduate of Mount Carmel High School. He also graduated from Bloomsburg University having earned his bachelor’s degree in mathematics education. He later earned a master’s degree in computer science from Penn State University.
Prior to his retirement, he was employed as a mathematics teacher at the former Lewistown Area High School.
Dan was an avid Mount Carmel Area Red Tornadoes and Bloomsburg Huskies fan. He enjoyed attending various sports events with his friends. He was also a Philadelphia Eagles and Phillies fan. He was a true coal cracker and loved the local community.
Dan has many friends from high school and college that he kept in touch with; they enjoyed outings together whenever possible. He was always ready with a good story or anecdote sprinkled with a bit of wit and a wry smile.
He was beloved by his friends and family and was there for them in moments of need. Dan was a true friend, brother, and uncle always.
Surviving are his brother, Steve Bartos and his wife, Meg, of Mount Carmel; his sister, Dianne Corkum and her husband, Brad, of South Carolina; nieces, nephews, cousins and many close friends.
Preceding him in death in addition to his parents was his brother, Edward C. Bartos in 2014.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 15, 2026, in Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, 47 S. Market St., Mount Carmel with Very Rev. Msgr. Francis J. Karwacki, pastor as the celebrant. Interment will follow in All Saints Cemetery, Bear Gap. A visitation will be held on Thursday morning from 9 a.m. until 10:45 a.m. at the Joseph J. Stutz Inc. Funeral Home, 40 South Market Street, Mount Carmel, Joseph J. Stutz III, Supervisor. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy can be made to the Red Tornadoes Touchdown Club, c/o 579 Wilburton Road, Mount Carmel, PA 17851.
