Sidney J. ‘Sid’ Rhodes
Sidney J. “Sid” Rhodes, 75, of Burnham, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Monday, Dec. 29, 2025, at his granddaughter’s home surrounded by family and prayer.
Born on June 20, 1950, in Lewistown, Mifflin County, he is a son of the late Vincent I. and J. A. “Maxine” (Stewart) Rhodes.
On Nov. 15, 1969, he married his late wife, Gail I. (Yarevitz) Rhodes, with whom he was blessed to share over 55 years of marriage before her passing on Dec. 20, 2024.
He is survived by one son, David S. Rhodes, of Burnham; one granddaughter, Erin Vrabel and her husband, Ryan, of McAlisterville; two great granddaughters, Hayden J. and Quinn K. Vrabel; one brother, Robert Rhodes and his wife, Cheryl, of Linglestown; one sister, Paula Rhodes Bisbey and her husband, Patrick, of State College; and two nephews, three nieces and their families.
Mr. Rhodes was a 1968 graduate of Chief Logan High School in Lewistown and was employed and retired from the Melt Shop of Standard Steel in Burnham, 1 month shy of 50 years of service.
Sid enjoyed watching Penn State football games and attended his last game with his granddaughter, Erin, for her first game. He was also a handy man who could figure out how to do or fix anything and was always offering a helping hand to anyone who was in need.
Sid started attending Bunkertown Brethren Church with his granddaughter and family where he accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior. He was a man of few words but also loved so much. He had a straight-faced funny wit to him that everyone grew to love.
All services and interment are private.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Mr. Rhodes’s memory can be made to the Bunkertown Brethren Church, 52 Bunkertown Road, McAlisterville, PA 17049.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the Brown Funeral Homes, Inc., 111 Westfall St., McAlisterville.
