William Samuel ‘Butch’ McCahren

William Samuel “Butch” McCahren, 80, of Mifflintown, passed away Wednesday, May 14, 2025, at his home.

Born July 5, 1944 in Spruce Hill Township, Juniata County, he was a son of the late Lawrence “Bossie” and Jean (McKnight) McCahren.

He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Sharon (Ellinger) McCahren, whom he married May 1, 1965; two children, Christine (Dan) Carney of Gallitzin and Michael McCahren of Port Royal; three grandchildren, Clara McCahren, Allison Carney and Nathan Carney; and two sisters, Leah Foster of Harrisburg and Linda (Ray) Gregos of Mifflintown.

Butch graduated from Juniata Joint High School in 1961 and worked as a pipeline welder with Local 798 Union.

He was a member of Aldersgate United Methodist Church, Union Masonic Lodge No. 324, Tall Cedars of Lebanon, and the Juniata County Agricultural Society.

He enjoyed turkey and deer hunting, dirt track racing, square dancing, and was an avid Penn State sports fan.

His funeral will be at 10 a.m. on Monday, May 19, at Guss Funeral Home, Inc., 20 S. Third St., Mifflintown, with Pastor Mindy Petrovcic and Pastor Crystal Baumgardner officiating. Interment will be in Old Church Hill Cemetery, Port Royal.

There will be a viewing from 6 to 8 p.m. on Sunday, May 18, at the funeral home where a Masonic service will be conducted by Union Lodge #324 at 8 p.m.
