Paul Andrew Thomas
Paul Andrew Thomas, aged 55, was called home to Heaven on Aug. 4, 2024 at Geisinger Medical Center in Danville surrounded by family. Born Dec. 6, 1968, in Steubenville, Ohio, he was the son of Deborah and Jim Shafer. He was a Steubenville High School graduate. On August 26, 2017, he and Amy (Bubb) were married at New Life Church in Burnham, PA. Paul loved learning and enjoyed reading and watching documentaries about his faith, Christianity, and history, especially the Civil War. He above all, relished his trips to Gettysburg National Military Park, where he recently began volunteering as a Civil War reenactor with the 71st Pennsylvania Volunteer infantry (fulfilling a life-long dream). Though he lived in the heart of Penn State territory, Paul was a devout Ohio State Buckeyes fan, which caused a fun rivalry between him and his wife, Amy. Foremost, Paul was a gentle soul who loved animals. He rescued many throughout the years, including his beloved Jack Russell terrier, Patches.
Paul proceeds his wife, Amy (Bubb), stepson Skye Loner and girlfriend Catherine Cavanaugh, stepson Drew Chesney and wife Abigail, mother Deborah and stepfather James Shafer, sister Nancy Elliot and husband David, sister Christine Dimeler and husband Douglas, brother James Shafer along with numerous nephews, nieces and grand-nephews and nieces. A memorial is planned to celebrate Paul’s life which will be determined at a later date. Arrangements have been entrusted to King-Barr Funeral Home, 120 Logan Street, Lewistown.
