Patricia Mae Wagner
Patricia Mae Wagner, 84, passed away peacefully on July 27, 2024, in Harrisburg, surrounded by her loving family.
Patricia was born on Jan. 15, 1940 in Lewistown, to Robert E. Myers and Dorothy Kitting Myers.
After graduating from Juniata Joint High School in 1957, she met the love of her life while square-dancing; Robert “Butch” Wagner, who proceeded her on Aug. 31, 2002.
They married on May 5, 1963 and had two beautiful daughters; Robin Wagner Jones and husband, Bradley Jones of Camp Hill, and Missie Renee Britt and companion, Bill Bender, of Lewistown.
A talented seamstress, Patricia worked at several different textile factories, employed in sewing and quality control roles; a kid at heart, she later served meals at Mifflin County School District as a cafeteria worker. She was a member of Lake Park Methodist Church.
At home, she loved to socialize at the hair salon her husband owned and operated off of the front of their home for 38 years, Robert Wagner’s Beauty Shop. They were often found on nights out at Elks #663, where Patricia served as an officer in the Ladies Auxiliary. She was also an enthusiastic blood donation drive volunteer and Meals on Wheels delivery driver.
While she never stopped calling Lewistown “home,” Patricia moved to central Pennsylvania in 2007. There, she joined Grace United Methodist Church in Lemoyne. Over the following 17 years, she became a valued member of the Camp Hill, Mechanicsburg, and Lemoyne communities, making friends wherever she went with her signature smile, kindness, and quick humor. As a resident of the Essex House, beginning in 2019, she was active in many residential committees, the organizer of a crochet club, a resident satisfaction survey purveyor, and an avid bingo and Rummikub player.
One of the biggest highlights of her life, she said, was becoming a grandmother, and later, a great-grandmother.
She had five grandchildren and six great grandchildren, all of whom knew her as “Nanny.” Dante Britt and companion, Ambra Pandel, of Lewistown and his children, Hailey, Desmond and Vinnie Britt; Felicia Reese and husband, Kurtis Reese, of Lewistown, and her children, Leni Renee and Luna Ryann Britt, and Lynx Rowen Reese; Alexandra Jones and partner, Joseph Kavanagh, of Harrisburg; Adam Jones of Seattle, Wash; and Aaron Jones of Salt Lake City, U.T. She showered them all with unconditional love and support.
Patricia’s biggest source of joy was spending time with her family, closely followed by sneakily planning handmade gifts; crocheting; reading; playing cards; doing puzzles; watching the Olympics; rooting for Penn State’s football team and attending any activity that her family was involved in. Her final evening involved watching the opening ceremony of the Paris Olympics with her family and she couldn’t have been happier.
Patricia is survived by her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren as well as her brother Burt E. Myers and wife, Margaret, of Mifflin, and many nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 4, 2024, at King Funeral Home and Crematory, 47 Carriage House Lane, Reedsville, with Pastor Doug Pierce to officiate. There will be a time of visitation held from 1 p.m. until time of service at the funeral home.
Burial will take place in Mattawana Cemetery, McVeytown.
In lieu of flowers, Patricia requested donations be made to the Susan G. Komen foundation for breast cancer research at komen.org.
