Tyson Dale Searer

Tyson Dale Searer, 29, of Lewistown, passed away unexpectedly due to complications from a brain surgery on Wednesday, Oct. 11, 2023, at Geisinger Medical Center in Danville.

Born Jan. 4, 1994 in Lewistown, he was the son of Dale and Kim (Shank) Searer. In addition to his parents, he is also survived by his pride and joy, his children, Simon Dale Searer, and Ivan Michael Searer, maternal grandparents, Earl and Vonnie Shank, paternal grandparents, Larry and Nina Searer, and Yvonne Wolfkill; and aunts and uncles, Chris Wolfkill and wife Jeri, Deron Shank, Tyler and Tonya Searer, and Matthew Allen and Kelly Allen.

Tyson was a graduate of Mifflin County High School, class of 2012, and a graduate of East Stroudsburg University, class of 2016, earning a Bachelor of Science in Nursing. After college, he was employed as a psychiatric nurse, at The Meadows Psychiatric Center, and most recently at Beacon Light.

Tyson was a stand-out athlete, whether it was on the football field, baseball diamond, or the wrestling mat. He was the winning pitcher in two Mifflin County All-Star Junior Babe Ruth State Championship games, he placed 7th and 3rd at The PIAA AAA Wrestling State Championships, and was the first Mifflin County Husky to achieve 100 wins. His success followed him to college where he was a four-year starter and a national qualifier. Tyson loved to watch his Philadelphia Eagles on Sundays. What he enjoyed the most was his family and spending quality time with them, especially his children, who were the love of his life. Tyson will be remembered for his unique sense of humor. He was a wonderful father, son, grandson, and friend that will be dearly missed by all.

A viewing will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 17, 2023 at Lewistown Alliance Church, 50 Hudson Avenue, Lewistown.

His funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 18, 2023, at the church with Pastor John Looney to officiate. There will be an additional viewing held from 10 a.m. until time of service.

Interment will take place in Mount Rock Cemetery.
