Margaret Emma ‘Peggy’ Anderson

Margaret Emma “Peggy” Anderson, 85, of Lewistown, passed away at 5:07 a.m., Monday, Sept. 25, 2023, at Greenwood Village.

Born April 8, 1938, in Delaware County, outer Philadelphia, she was a daughter of the late Arthur and Hazel (Heller) Black.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Christa Baitsell, and her sisters, Janice Laird, Sally Buckley, and Mary Jane Black.

Peggy is survived by: loving husband, M. Eugene “Gene” Anderson, whom she married June 1, 1957 and shared 66 years together; children, Amy Sunderland and husband, Carl, of Reedsville, Steven Anderson and wife, Luann, of Yeagertown, and Paula Cain and husband William “Bill”, of Westminster, Md.; son-in-law, Danny Baitsell Jr., of Lewistown; nine grandchildren, Marcus Baumgardner and husband, Ryan Shaeffer, John Baumgardner, Janelle Heider and husband, Zach, Kelsey Fishman and husband, Matt, Amanda Rush and husband, Tommy, Amber Hauffman and husband, David, and Kaylee, Danny III, and Abbey Baitsell; 18 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.

She was a graduate of Huntingdon High School, Class of 1957.

Peggy loved spending time with her family, especially her many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She loved family gatherings and especially enjoyed spending Thanksgiving holidays with everyone at the cabin in Huntingdon County. She was a woman of strong faith and was very involved with her church and doing various ministry work. In her early years, she enjoyed riding their motorcycle and annual trips to the Grand Canyon with husband, Gene, and taking walks with him in the woods.

She was employed throughout her life at the Mifflin County Courthouse; as a secretary at Heller Funeral Home; by the Township of Granville; and lastly, as a pharmacy technician at Walmart Pharmacy, from where she retired.

A viewing will be held from 12:30 p.m. to 1:30 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 30, 2023, at the Assembly of God Church, 160 Summit Drive, Lewistown. The funeral service will follow at 1:30 p.m., with Rev. Kirk Nagel officiating.

Interment will take place at Locust Grove Mennonite Cemetery, Belleville.
