Shirley Drass Yearick
Shirley Drass Yearick, 89, of South Main Street, died after a long illness at the home of her great-niece, Melissa Wilson. Her niece, Cathy Marker, of McClure, assisted in her care.
She was born Sept. 20, 1933, a daughter of the late Francis Norman Drass and Katherine McCardle Drass. Her husband, Richard F. Yearick Sr., preceded her in death.
Surviving are a step-daughter, Sherry Yearick Ritchey, of Camp Hill, and step-son, Richard F. Yearick Jr., of Reedsville; two brothers: Ronald Drass, of Lewistown, and Dennis Drass and wife, Patricia, of Lewistown; several nieces and nephews; four grandchildren and eight great grandchildren and several great nieces and nephews.
She was devoted and greatly loved by her family, a presence as a grandmother and aunt in the lives of their young children. Although she never had children of her own, she was actively involved in raising her nieces, nephews, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
She was a member of Sacred Heart of Jesus in Lewistown.
She and her husband lived for a few years in Phoenix, Arizona. They enjoyed the southwest and traveling. One of her favorite travel memories was that of Tortilla Flats, Arizona.
