Shirley M. (Anderson) Ferguson

Born on March 5, 1935 in Lewistown, she was a daughter of the late William D. and Ada A. (Lockett) Anderson. Shirley was a member and deacon at Lewistown Presbyterian Church. She volunteered as a chaperone for the Penn Highlands Marching Band and was an active band booster. She loved making ceramics and pursuing her pilot’s license. She enjoyed oil painting and had a great sense of humor. More than anything, she loved spending time with her grandchildren.

Shirley is survived by her son, John H. Ferguson, Jr. and wife, Miriam of Mechanicsville, VA; daughter, Susan L. Ferguson of Lewistown; grandchildren, Zachary T. Ferguson (Erica) of Henrico, VA and Kaylee M. Stern (Ben) of Hasbrouck Heights, NJ, and nephew, Dennis McCardle (Pam) of Lexington, KY. In addition to her husband and parents, Shirley is preceded in death by her 5 brothers, Raymond, Robert, Lester, Gene, and David Anderson.

A visitation will be from 10-11 a.m. on Saturday, June 17, 2023 at Lewistown Presbyterian Church, 17 E. 3rd Street, Lewistown. Officiating will be Pastor Sarah Sedgwick. Burial will follow at Birch Hill Cemetery. King-Barr Funeral Home LLC is in charge of arrangements.
