Merle A. Wertz, Sr.

Born on July 6, 1946, he was a son of the late Howard and Ruth (Knepp) Wertz. Merle graduated in 1964 from Penns Valley High School. For several years, he proudly served in the National Guard. Merle worked as a carpenter for many years and retired from Allensville Planing Mills Lewistown Home Center. He enjoyed keeping busy and working with his hands. He could always be found tinkering and building in his free time.

In addition to his beloved wife, Merle is survived by his children, Bobette Myers and husband, Daryl, of Aaronsburg, Merle A. Wertz, Jr. and wife, April, of Pleasant Gap, Tangy Baird and husband, Tony, of Centre Hall, and Nicki Wertz; step-children, Rodney Pressler, of Pensacola, FL and Daniel Pressler, of Centre Hall; 9 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; sister, Lucielle Dashem, of Centre Hall, and many nieces and nephews. Including his parents, Merle is preceded in death by brothers, Steven and Blair Wertz.

All services will be private. King-Barr Funeral Home LLC is in charge of arrangements.
