Darl L. ‘Pete’ Pecht
Darl L. “Pete” Pecht, 92, of Farm View Lane, Lewistown, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, June 8, 2023, at his home.
Born Feb. 15, 1931, in McVeytown, he was a son of the late Charles W. and Hazel P. (Kauffman) Pecht. His wife, Velma A. (Grassmyer) Pecht, whom he married April 9, 1955, preceded him in death on April 4, 2023.
Also preceding him in death were three brothers, William “Bill” Pecht, Wilbur “Dick” Pecht, and Ronald “Snip” Pecht.
Surviving are: five children, Jeffrey A. Pecht and wife, Dana, of McVeytown, Debra J. Mianulli, of Virginia Beach, Virginia, Brian J. Pecht and companion, Michele Orwig, of Lewistown, Lisa A. Sunderland and companion, Paul Crater, of Mattawana, D. Brent Pecht and wife, Connie, of Lewistown; a brother, Robert L. “Pork” Pecht and wife, Patricia, of McVeytown; 10 grandchildren; 25 great grandchildren; and a long time special part of his family, Monique Cartwright, of Manhattan, New York.
A Staff Sergeant in the U.S. Army, he served during the Korean War in both Japan and Korea.
He was employed as a truckdriver for several local companies as well as himself before retiring from PennDOT.
Pete was a member of the McVeytown Presbyterian Church and enjoyed riding his motorcycle and taking numerous trips to Canada with family and friends.
He had fond memories of climbing Mt. Fuji while stationed in Japan, and his family trip touring Italy and Sicily.
The family is grateful for Marci, Jill, Gracie, and Sharon, who provided care for Pete at his home.
A Celebration of Life is being planned for a future date.
