Barbara K. Soccio

Barbara K. Soccio, 85, of Lewistown, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, June 27, 2023, at Celebration Villa of Reedsville.

Born Aug. 8, 1937, in Cortland, New York, she was the daughter of the late John H. and Yvonne (Young) Kaley.

In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband of 49 ½ years, Rocco J. Soccio, and her grandson, Justin Soccio.

Barbara is survived by her children, Jan Murphy and husband, Stephen, of Lebanon, John Soccio and companion, Becky Stewart, of Bainbridge, and Vincent Soccio and wife, Norma, of Lewistown; grandchildren, Andrea Marks and husband, Dyson, Nicholas Soccio and wife, Ashley, and Megan Lin and husband, Jon; and great-grandchildren, Hudson Soccio, Alden Mosser, Maria Soccio, Allison Soccio, Rowan Marks, and Christopher Styers.

She was a graduate of Lewistown High School, class of 1955. After high school, she attended Lock Haven University for Elementary Education. Earlier in life, she was employed as a substitute teacher throughout Mifflin County School District. She enjoyed 33 years alongside her husband, Rocco Soccio, serving the community at the Parkway Service Store. Additionally, she was employed as front desk manager at the Green Gables Motor Inn, as clerk at Mifflin County Housing Authority, was a member and past president of Charity League in Lewistown, a member of Republican Women of Action, Republican Committee Person, and Inspector of Elections in Lewistown, where she enjoyed seeing friends and neighbors at voting time. Earlier in life, she had a passion for playing the piano. Her other passions included cooking, sewing, and painting. Her loving husband, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren were her pride and joy.

A funeral service in loving memory of Barbara will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, July 3, 2023, at King-Barr Funeral Home LLC, 120 Logan Street, Lewistown, with Pastor Sean Moon officiating. There will be a viewing held at the funeral home from 10 a.m. until time of service.

Interment will take place in Juniata Memorial Park.
