Glen A. ‘Pete’ Fisher
Glen A. “Pete” Fisher, 82, formerly of Lewistown and a resident of Nottingham Village Nursing Center in Northumberland, died at 1:20 p.m. Friday, Sept. 26, 2014, at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville.
Born Aug. 16, 1932, he was a son of the late William V. and G. LaRue (Bossinger) Fisher.
In addition to his parents, Pete was preceded in death by two brothers, Burle “Bud” Fisher and Charles D. Fisher.
He is survived by: his wife, Geraldine A. “Gerry” Fisher, whom he married on April 26, 1957; his children, Andrew D. Fisher, of Denver, Lori A. Wieszkowiak and husband, Thomas, of Sunbury, and Trina K. Noggle and husband, Michael, of Long Beach, Mississippi; grandchildren, Michael “Tony” Noggle, and Nicole Walsh and husband, James; twin great-granddaughters, Reagan and Harper Walsh; a brother, Kenneth D. Fisher and wife, Doris, of Belleville; and a sister-in-law, Esther Fisher.
Pete was a graduate of McVeytown High School, Class of 1950.
Pete received a military education while serving in the military. He served for 28 years, retiring as a lieutenant commander. He was a meteorologist for the U.S. Navy.
He was a member of Pine Glen Church of the Brethren, the American Legion in Mount Union, American Legion C.C. and the Y.M.C.A. Pete was very active in the boy scouts as an adult leader and received the District Award of Merit. He enjoyed bowling and was passionate about golfing.
A memorial service with VFW honors will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 2, 2014, at Trinity United Church of Christ, 20 Oak St., Lewistown, with Pastor Narda Druckenmiller officiating.
The family will receive friends from 10 to 11 a.m. Thursday, at the church.
