HARRISBURG — Multicultural performances, tightrope walkers and fireworks above the Susquehanna River, live music and food trucks in September can mean only one thing - the Kipona Festival has arrived. The 70,000 attendees anticipated at the event Sept. 2-4, 2023 will also be greeted by another welcome party - smiling people at eye-catching carts as part of Jehovah’s Witnesses’ increased outreach for the festival. Big Valley Bible Church celebrates 20th anniversary

REEDSVILLE — Big Valley Bible Church will be celebrating its 20th Anniversary on Sunday, Aug. 20, 2023. The church was planted in August 2003 by Jim and Jeff Hartzler. The Hartzler’s were both born and raised in this area. They moved away, married, and started families, but always had a desire to work together in ministry. That desire led them back to their home area. Big Valley Bible Church started meeting in the family cabin on Stone Mountain and then rented the Bohn building on the corner of Logan and Main St. in Reedsville. Six years later, the church moved to the ...

The doctor insisted Rachel eat a boiled egg each day, but even that was beyond their means. “Why not pray for an egg?” a young friend suggested. They were a churchgoing family, but the idea of praying for their needs was something they’d never really ...

A final doxology

It is those times when the writers of scripture contemplate what they wrote and stop and lift their hearts in praise to God. Allow me to give you a good illustration. The book of Psalms is basically a hymn book for the Hebrews. It includes 150 separate psalms which they recited and read and sung. It is divided into five books which speak about the attributes of God. The work of God, the power of God and the wisdom of ...

Let’s share the message of God accurately (without legalism)

Church Growth – XIV This is truly the Prophet who is to come into the world. – John 6:14 Jesus Christ (the anointed One) was the fulfillment of Genesis 3:15; He was the fulfillment of that Messianic prophecy. 1 — Jesus came through the kingly line of David, and had a legitimate right to the title, “King of the Jews,” John 19:19. 2 — Jesus came as a priest according to the order of Melchizedek, Psalm 110:4, Hebrews 7:24. 3 — Jesus came as a prophet. Deuteronomy 18:15-18, John 16:14. The religious leaders were not ready for the true Messiah, the One who would ...
