PennDOT targets speeding on Route 75

From staff reports EAST WATERFORD — The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation has placed a radar-controlled speed display board along Route 75 in Lack Township in an effort to remind motorists to slow down. The board, installed this week, faces northbound traffic between Blairs Mills Road and Brick Church Road, where the posted speed limit is 55 mph. The device uses radar to detect the speed of approaching vehicles and displays the speed on a lighted sign. PennDOT said the board will remain at the location for four to six weeks. From staff reports BELLEFONTE — The Bellefonte exit from Interstate 80 eastbound will close for nine days beginning Sunday evening as work continues on the new high-speed interchange connecting I-80 and Interstate 99. The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation said Exit 161/Bellefonte and the right travel lane of I-80 eastbound will close at 6 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 23, while crews replace a box culvert. Measles cases rise in Mifflin County

LEWISTOWN — Mifflin County’s confirmed measles cases have nearly tripled, rising from six to 17 as Pennsylvania’s statewide total climbed to 307 cases and 53 hospitalizations, according to the latest Department of Health data. The increase means Mifflin County has added 11 confirmed cases since the previous state update. Less than two weeks ago, the county had six. The statewide numbers also continue to rise.
