Dauphin County company ordered to pay nearly $130,000 in back wages

HARRISBURG — The Pennsylvania Department of Labor & Industry has recovered $129,929 in back wages for 59 workers after finding violations of the state’s Minimum Wage Act by Dauphin County construction company S&R Enterprises.

The investigation began after a complaint raised concerns that workers were not fully paid for overtime hours. A review of the company’s payroll records showed that overtime had been miscalculated, resulting in underpayments. In January 2026, the department reached an agreement requiring S&R Enterprises to pay the owed wages, which have now been fully distributed to the affected employees.

“Pennsylvania workers deserve to be paid what they earn and to know their rights will be protected,” said L&I Secretary Nancy A. Walker. “Under Governor Shapiro’s leadership, the Bureau of Labor Law Compliance is working every day to investigate complaints, return wages to workers, and hold employers accountable.”

Since Governor Josh Shapiro took office, L&I has returned more than $15.7 million in unpaid wages to workers statewide. In 2025 alone, the bureau investigated over 7,000 labor law complaints, recovered more than $5.3 million in wages, and collected more than $2.25 million in fines from employers who violated labor laws.

The Bureau of Labor Law Compliance enforces Pennsylvania labor laws and investigates complaints about wage theft, overtime violations, and other workplace issues. Workers who believe they have not been paid properly can file a complaint online with the Department of Labor & Industry.

More information is available on the L&I website or through its social media channels on Instagram, Facebook, X, and LinkedIn.
