DUI charge filed after Port Royal crash
PORT ROYAL — A Mifflintown man faces driving under the influence charges following a two-vehicle crash Feb. 24, according to Pennsylvania State Police at Lewistown.
Police said George Marshall, 42, was driving a 2011 Nissan Pathfinder and attempting to turn left onto Market Street from Main Street when his vehicle collided with a northbound 2014 Nissan Pathfinder on Route 75 driven by Erin Larzelere, 39, of Mifflintown. A 6-year-old passenger was also in Larzelere’s vehicle.
Larzelere attempted to avoid the crash but was struck, causing disabling damage to the passenger side of her vehicle. Marshall’s vehicle sustained front passenger-side damage but remained operable.
No injuries were reported. Marshall was taken into custody and charged with suspicion of DUI.
Motorcyclist killed in Decatur Township crash
LEWISTOWN — A Beaver Springs man died following a two-vehicle crash March 9 in Decatur Township, state police said.
Police said Parcer Eckley, 24, of Milroy, was driving a 2017 Toyota south on U.S. 522 around 7:30 p.m. when he crossed the center line into the northbound lane and into the path of a motorcycle.
The motorcycle, a 2013 Harley-Davidson operated by Jeremy Rhodes, 46, of Beaver Springs, collided with the vehicle. Rhodes was ejected from the motorcycle.
Eckley’s vehicle continued south, striking a utility pole before coming to rest. Both vehicles were towed from the scene.
Eckley sustained minor injuries and was transported to Geisinger Lewistown Hospital. Rhodes was taken to Geisinger Medical Center in Danville, where he was pronounced dead.
Driver cited after Route 75 crash in Turbett Township
PORT ROYAL — One person was injured in a two-vehicle crash Feb. 24 in Turbett Township, according to Pennsylvania State Police at Lewistown.
Police said Junior Perez, 20, of Mifflin, was driving a 2005 Chevrolet Malibu south on Route 75 around 5:30 p.m. and attempted to turn left onto Route 74. Perez failed to yield to a northbound 2024 Subaru Legacy driven by Dale Zeiders, 59, of Port Royal, resulting in a collision.
Both drivers were wearing seat belts. Perez was transported to Geisinger Lewistown Hospital for possible injuries.
Perez was cited in connection with the crash, police said.
