The McClure Veterans Memorial Pool will hold an important fundraiser this weekend.
MCCLURE — Pool season might still be a few months away, but supporters of the McClure Veterans Memorial Pool are already gearing up for summer by coming together for the facility’s 18th annual fundraiser on Saturday.
The event, held at the McClure American Legion, located at 36 E. Ohio St., McClure, has become a spring tradition for families, volunteers, and anyone who wants to help keep the community pool thriving.
Doors open at noon, and the day quickly fills with activity. The Chinese auction runs from midday until late afternoon, offering a wide spread of donated items and themed baskets that appeal to every age and interest. Past years have featured everything from home décor and gardening supplies to chocolates, baby items, and local favorites like Middleswarth and Hartley’s products. The drawing begins at 5 p.m., followed by the evening basket auction at 7 p.m., where larger themed bundles often spark friendly bidding excitement.
Throughout the day, guests can enjoy food from the concession stand, browse door prizes, and take part in raffles, including a 50/50 that always draws a crowd. Every dollar raised goes directly toward supporting the pool’s operations, ensuring another summer of safe, affordable recreation for local families.
Anyone wishing to donate new items for the Chinese auction or baskets for the basket auction, call Adam Ewig at (570) 765-8411 or Patty Church at (717) 994-5533.
