Lewistown Borough treasurer resigns
From staff reports
LEWISTOWN — According to Lewistown Borough Council President Matt Moore, the council approved Borough Treasurer Somer Weiss’ resignation Monday.
Weiss’s formal resignation letter, which she provided to The Sentinel, stated that her resignation is effective March 20.
Moore said, “I’m sorry to see her go, and we were all caught off guard last evening when she turned in her resignation. I want to wish Somer good luck in her new endeavors.”
Weiss stated in the letter that she enjoyed her job and is disappointed that her time in the position has ended.
Weiss added in the letter, “Several factors have brought me to this decision. Constant worry about the security of my position/my livelihood, lack of respect, lack of transparency and scapegoating at my expense has become overwhelming.”
Weiss continued to add that her work ethic and accomplishments during her employment merit stability and respect in her position.
Weiss closed out the letter, expressing displeasure about her lack of time off due to “staffing shortages” and “cross-training.”
