LEWISTOWN — A special session of court held Monday at the Mifflin County Courthouse in Lewistown placed the spotlight not only on newly elected officials, but on the deeper meaning behind their commitments.
Presided over by President Judge Aaron L. Gingrich and Judge Jonathan W. Reed, the ceremony underscored a simple truth: local government depends on individuals willing to shoulder responsibility, uphold the law and serve the public with dedication.
While much of the county’s government operates quietly and without fanfare, its impact is felt daily in the lives of residents, officials said. The strength of local institutions rests on the integrity and steadiness of those entrusted to lead them, especially the faces of the newly elected officials.
Pastor Bill Miller of Lewistown Alliance Church offered the Invocation and Benediction, framing the proceedings with words of gratitude and guidance. His message echoed the day’s theme, encouraging officials to approach their roles with humility and a commitment to the people they serve.
Reed administered the Oaths of Office, calling each official forward to affirm their duties. Those sworn in included:

In Juniata County, elected officials from the November general election took their oath of office on Dec. 31, 2025. Four officials were sworn in at the Juniata County Courthouse in Mifflintown.
