Thunder dominate Prep, 36-10

STATE COLLEGE — Belleville Christian girls basketball beat Grace Prep on Friday, 36-10.

For the Thunder (3-5, 3-2 ACAA), Hailey Zook posted seven points. Katelyn Renno, Izzy Weaver and Alayna Peachey each recorded six points.

BCS outscored Prep, 21-6, in the first half.

Next, BCS battles Forbes Road today.

BOYS BASKETBALL

Thunder roll by Prep, 44-32

STATE COLLEGE — Belleville Christian toppled Grace Prep during Friday’s boys basketball action, 44-32.

BCS (4-4) got 15 points from Devin Yoder and nine points from Grant Yoder. Landon Rhodes had eight and Ethan Renno added six points.

Four of the Thunder’s five three-pointers came from Devin Yoder.

Next, BCS plays today at 3:30 against Forbes Road.

9TH GRADE BASKETBALL

Huskies drop Greyhounds

Mifflin County’s ninth grade team beat Shippensburg, 51-4, on Friday evening.

Jemma Kanagy had 18 points for the Huskies and Bella Yoder added 13 points. Grayce Napikoski tallied 10 points.

The Huskies are now 12-0 on the season.

BOYS BASKETBALL

EJ beats Millersburg, 51-22

COCOLAMUS — East Juniata boys hoops topped Millersburg on Thursday night, 51-22.

For EJ (5-6), Wrett Smith tallied a team-high 19 points and Sam Kopacki added 12. Josh Dubiel added eight points and Silas Strickhouser tacked on five.

For the Indians, Chase Wilbert posted nine points and Hunter Grassmyer added five. Brady McFadden had five points as well.

The Tigers travel to cross-county rival Juniata on Saturday for a 7 p.m. tip-off. EJ girls basketball plays Juniata at 5 p.m. on Saturday.

JUNIOR HIGH

Huskies split with Mt. Nittany

STATE COLLEGE — On Thursday night, the Mifflin County Junior High boys basketball teams were back on the road for a showdown with Mt. Nittany of State College.

The Husky seventh grade team won its fourth game out of their last five by a score of 29-23. Once again, they showed balanced scoring with six players scoring in the win. Zach Smith led the way with 11 points while Clay Fultz had seven points. Caleb Peachey played an excellent defensive game while scoring two points in the win.

The Husky eighth graders were back and forth with Mt Nittany all game before falling by a score of 34-26. The Huskies went cold down the stretch and Mt. Nittany made some clutch free throws. The eighth graders had seven players in the scoring column with Levi Anderson, Connor Donovan and Mason Mathews all with five each and Bronn Zook added four points.

Both Husky teams are back on the road Monday at Milton Hershey.
