Stop signs to be removed from Ferguson Valley Road

LEWISTOWN — Stop signs recently installed along Ferguson Valley Road will be removed following a review by the Mifflin County Regional Police Department, PennDOT and Derry Township officials.

In a statement, police said officers met with PennDOT and township representatives and conducted traffic observations after the signs were installed. The review determined the stop signs created inconvenience for drivers and posed a potential traffic hazard rather than improving public safety.

Traffic will return to its previous flow once the signs are removed, police said.

Police noted the stop signs were not installed at the direction of the police department, PennDOT or Derry Township. According to the department, the placement was determined by representatives connected to the construction of the Wawa convenience store.

Starting at $2.99/week.
