Mifflin man has been charged after November incident
MIFFLIN — A Mifflin man has been charged after a shooting incident earlier this month in Juniata County. Richard Keith Imes, 63, faces several charges after firing a weapon at hunters on Nov. 2 in the area of Quarry Road and Neely Road in Tuscarora Township.
According to the criminal complaint, a State Police investigation revealed Tyler Walton, Andrew Henry, Luke Hoover and Jason Naylor had permission to predator hunt in the area. As the hunters were leaving, they were approached by Imes and confronted about the hunting location. After a brief conversation, Imes displayed a Jennings .25 caliber pistol and pointed it at Walton. Walton and the others attempted to flee the scene in a truck when a single gunshot struck the tailgate. Damage was estimated at $1,703.10.
Imes was interviewed by State Police on Nov. 11, stating he believed the hunters were shooting deer on his property. He stated he had a brief conversation with the operator of a black truck and fired one shot in the truck’s direction as it pulled away from the scene.
Imes was arraigned before Magisterial District Judge Tracy L. Powell. Charges include aggravated assault, simple assault, recklessly endangering another person and criminal mischief. Imes was placed in the Mifflin County Correctional Facility in lieu of $500,000 bail.
A preliminary hearing is scheduled for Dec. 3.
