Juniata County school director race goes uncontested
MIFFLINTOWN — According to unofficial election results, the Juniata County School District Board of Directors race saw six uncontested candidates take their seats in a less than spectacular voter turnout of 6,068 of the 14,901 voters or 43.06% of Juniata County voters.
Republican candidate Aleiha Rapp was the top vote-getter with 527 votes for the region 8 school board director seat. Voters cast 97 write-ins for a total of 624 votes.
Angela Jo Varner, who is crossfiled as a Democrat and Republican, won the uncontested region 1 school board director seat with 363 votes. Voters cast 10 write-ins, making the total vote count 373.
Democratic candidate Gabrielle Fisher won the uncontested two-year seat as region 2 school board director with 517 votes; voters cast 58 write-ins with a total of 575 votes.
Democratic candidate Helen Casner won the uncontested region 4 school board director seat with 344 votes while voters cast 49 write-ins with a total of 393 votes.
Democratic candidate Leslie Milliken won the uncontested two-year region 6 school board director seat with 234 votes as voters cast 16 write-ins for a total of 250 votes.
Republican candidate Terrance Shepler won the uncontested region 9 school board director seat with 349 votes while voters cast 24 write-ins with a total of 373 votes.
