Calendar

The Sentinel offers nonprofit and other community organizations an opportunity to promote upcoming events for free in the community calendar for three days before the event. Events requiring reservations may be promoted for up to two weeks before the reservation deadline.

Events that require a purchase from a for-profit business, even if a donation is made to the organization, are not eligible for the calendar.

Please be brief and include only basic details. If possible, provide a phone number or email address to be published with contact information.

• Thanksgiving Day meal — Thursday Nov. 27. New Life Church will partner with Calvary Lewistown to deliver or provide a Thanksgiving meal to be picked-up. Takeout will be available at 101 N. Beech St., Burnham between 10 a.m. and noon. Shut-ins can receive free delivery in Lewistown, Burnham, Yeagertown, Reedsville and Milroy. Calvary Lewistown will provide meals for pick-up between 10 a.m. and noon. Dine-in from 11 a.m to 12:30 p.m., 111 E. Third St., Lewistown on Thanksgiving Day. Reserve your pick-up or dine-in meals by calling (717) 242-1481 no later than 2 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 25.

• Thanksgiving dinner — 1 to 5 p.m., Thursday, November 27, Lewistown Elks, 229 W. 3rd St., Lewistown. Adults $15, children 12 and under $7. Reservations are appreciated. Walk-ins are welcome. To reserve, call (717) 248-8212 (leave a message) or (717) 543-1885. Open to the public.

• Black Friday gym day — 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., Friday, Nov. 28, Pine Glen Alliance Church, 1058 Rte.103 N., Lewistown. For children ages 6 to 12. Open gym, Christmas games, lunch and more. To register, call (717) 899-7740. Provide names and ages of children. Registration form must be completed day of event.

• Breakfast with Santa — 9 a.m. and 11 a.m., Saturday, Dec. 13, Milroy Hose Co., No. 1, 190 College Ave., Milroy. Reservations required. No walk-ins accepted. To reserve, call (717) 667-2388 no later than Dec. 3. Cost is a cash donation.

• Boy Scout Troop 4 Grand Slam breakfast fundraiser – 8 to 11 a.m., Lewistown Presbyterian Church, Third and Brown Street (lower level). Adults $10, youth 5-10 years old $8, children under 5 free. Tickets are available from Troop 4 scouts, leaders and at the door.

• Christmas bazaar — 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., Rhodes Memorial UMC, 500 Highland Ave., Lewistown.

• Christmas Open House — 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., both Shelter Thrift Store locations, 17 Depot St., Lewistown and 982 Parcheytown Rd., Lewistown. Christmas shopping ideas. Free refreshments while supplies last.

• Free community meal — Doors open 10 a.m. Meal served at 11 a.m., Sacred Heart School Cafeteria, Lewistown. Bingo to follow turkey meal.
