LEWISTOWN — The Juniata River Valley Chamber of Commerce, in partnership with the Penn State Small Business Development Center (SBDC), hosted a highly successful Entrepreneurial Meet-Up on Wednesday, Nov. 19, 2025, drawing a diverse group of attendees. The event was held at Shy Bear Brewing in Lewistown as part of Global Entrepreneurship Week, an international celebration of innovators and job creators who launch startups and bring new ideas to life which runs from Nov. 17-23.
Jason and Jennifer Ufema, owners of Shy Bear Brewing, served as hosts for the evening. Longtime supporters of the Chamber and champions of the local business community, the Ufemas have regularly opened their facility for entrepreneurial gatherings and are faithful participants in the meetups. In addition to welcoming attendees, Jason Ufema addressed the group, sharing insights into Shy Bear’s growth and operations, and offered behind-the-scenes tours of the brewery, a highlight for many participants.
“We were thrilled to see such strong turnout from business owners, start-up founders, and community supporters,” said Rhonda Kelley, Executive Director of the Juniata River Valley Chamber of Commerce. “Events like this highlight the passion, innovation, and momentum we’re seeing across the Juniata River Valley. It’s inspiring to watch these connections form and to celebrate the remarkable entrepreneurial spirit right here at home.”
The evening featured networking, resource sharing and conversations centered on business growth, challenges and opportunities in the region. Attendees also enjoyed complimentary food prepared by Shy Bear Brewing and provided by Penn State SBDC.
The Juniata River Valley Chamber and the Mifflin County Industrial Development Corporation plan to continue offering opportunities for entrepreneurs to connect, learn and collaborate throughout the year.
