McALISTERVILLE — Do I hear any bids or calls to attend Juniata Christian School’s 49th Annual Benefit Auction this weekend?

The school fundraiser will be held Friday and Saturday at the Lost Creek Community Park in McAlisterville.

Friday’s schedule kicks off with barbecue chicken takeout, food trucks, silent auction and more. On Saturday, there’s more food, carnival games and a live auction featuring quilts, tools, toys, gift cards and a Jackson Hole, Wyo. Trip. For more information, visit jcslions.com/calendar/benefit-auction.

The benefit auction is just one of the things to do this weekend in the Juniata Valley:

Big Valley Harvestfest

The 40th Big Valley Harvestfest, to be held at the Mifflin County Youth Park in Reedsville, is slated for Friday and Saturday, rain or shine. More than 50 vendors with good food are expected. The show starts at noon Friday with the Candy Corn Olympics at 6 p.m. and the band Make Mine Country taking the stage from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. for live music. On Saturday, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., kids can enjoy the children’s area with a free petting zoo, balloon treats and fun games. The chicken barbecue will be available for purchase, starting at noon. Check out the display by the Mifflin County Historical Society, “Preserving the Past for the Future” and enter a bid for the “Around the World” quilt raffle.
