Area man arrested for active warrant
LEWISTOWN — Lewistown Police Department officers were investigating a report of abandoned property on East Charles Street in Lewistown near the Route 22 off-ramp when they encountered Michael L. Karschner, 42, address unknown, at 9:27 a.m. on Aug. 22, according to a release issued on Friday. Police said Karschner had an active arrest warrant relating to a charge for possessing drug paraphernalia, and he was taken into custody and transported to the Mifflin County Correctional Facility in Lewistown.
Man charged with tampering with evidence
LEWISTOWN — Ryan Robert Pupo, 48, of Lewistown, has been charged with tampering with evidence after Lewistown Police Department detectives investigated an incident involving him in the Mifflin County Correctional Facility in Lewistown at 12 p.m. on Aug. 22, according to a release issued on Friday. On Aug. 20, the district attorney initiated a request an incident on Aug. 15 where staff at facility observed Pupo remove suspected methamphetamine that he had concealed in his rectum, the report said. Pupo provided a piece of the substance to his cellmate, Steven P. Gilkey, 52, address unknown, the report said. Staff entered the cell to investigate the substance and Pupo was observed eating the substance and the plastic baggy that contained the drugs in order to prevent it from being seized, the report said. Pupo was transported to the hospital for a medical evaluation then later vomited out the plastic baggy which was gathered as evidence. The report said Pupo made statements to medical staff regarding what the substance was as well as the amount provided to Gilkey, which Gilkey also reportedly consumed.
Lewistown man cited for disorderly conduct
LEWISTOWN — At 11:56 p.m. on Aug. 22, Lewistown Police Department officers responded to Logan Street at Marble Street in Lewistown for a report of disorderly conduct, according to a release issued on Friday. Two males were observed shooting bottle rocket fireworks into the sewer drains, the report said, and officers located the two individuals walking nearby. Police said Kasper Kurtz, 24, of Lewistown, and an unidentified 17-year-old juvenile. Kurtz was found holding bottle rockets and denied shooting them into the drains, the report said, and the fire department was dispatched as smoke was reportedly coming from the drains. Police said Kurtz admitted to his actions and was cited for disorderly conduct.
Lewistown woman cited with harassment
LEWISTOWN — A 33-year-old Lewistown woman was cited with two counts of harassment after Lewistown Police Department responded to 101 Valley St. in Lewistown for an alleged domestic dispute at 3:14 a.m. on Aug. 23, according to a release issued on Friday. Officers reported they spoke with a male who alleged his ex-girlfriend, Michelle Valentin (also known as “Disla,” entered his bedroom in the middle of the night to confront a female he was sleeping with. Valentin began punching the other female and the male had to restrain Valentin and remove her from the apartment, the report said. Valentin bit the reporting party during this scuffle; however, police said the reporting person was extremely uncooperative with officers, refusing to provide names of those involved and was reportedly intoxicated, the report said. Officers were summoned to the hospital where Valentin was seeking treatment claiming that the reporting party head-butted her possibly breaking her nose, the report said, and she was also reportedly intoxicated. Due to her being the primary aggressor, police said they cited Valentin with two counts of harassment.
Area woman arrested for disorderly conduct
LEWISTOWN — Lewistown Police Department officers were dispatched to 27 Chestnut St. in Lewistown for an incident at 10:58 a.m. on Aug. 25, according to a release issued on Friday. The report said a female resident in an apartment met a homeless female, who was identified as Katelyn M. Coleman, 21, address unknown, at a park and invited Coleman to her apartment. Coleman watched the resident’s children until their father returned home from work a short time later, the report said, and when the father returned home, he told Coleman to leave. Police said Coleman grabbed a kitchen knife and accused the male of kidnapping his children, the report said, and the male resident forcibly removed Coleman from his house. The report said officers had contact with Coleman, who was screaming and acting irate, and she was repeatedly warned to stop. Coleman was outside on the sidewalk waiting for the male resident to retrieve her belongings, the report said, and when the male brought the items outside, Coleman yelled obscenities and tried to attack the male. Coleman was had to be restrained and was arrested for misdemeanor disorderly conduct. Coleman was lodged in Mifflin County Correctional Facility in Lewistown, police said.
Lewistown man arrested for warrant, charged
LEWISTOWN — Lewistown Police Department officers arrested a 30-year-old Lewistown man at 7:34 p.m. on Aug. 25 after a report of a suspicious male at Rec Park in Lewistown, according to a release issued on Friday. A concerned citizen reported a male, later identified as John H. Ritter III, acting suspiciously around the dugouts, the reports said. Ritter had an active warrant and was arrested by police, the report said, and he was found to be in possession of used hypodermic needles and cotton swabs. Police said Ritter was lodged in the Mifflin County Correctional Facility in Lewistown on his warrant and charged with possession of drug paraphernalia.
Area man arrested for warrant, charged with possession
LEWISTOWN — A 49-year-old area man was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia and lodged in Mifflin County Correctional Facility in Lewistown on a warrant, according to a release issued by the Lewistown Police Department on Friday. At 8:30 p.m. on Aug. 25, officers observed Darren E. Moore walking along the 200 block of West Third Street, the report said, and he had a warrant issued by the district attorney’s office for failure to appear.
Area teenager charged with possession
LEWISTOWN — Bryawna N. Wagner, 19, address unknown, was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of alcohol by a minor and lodged in the Mifflin County Correctional Facility in Lewistown after an incident on the 200 block of West Third Street in Lewistown at 5:08 p.m. on Aug. 26, according to a release issued by the Lewistown Police Department on Friday. Officers were dispatched because Wagner allegedly refused to leave and the caller said she had methamphetamine inside the house, police said.
Officers stood by as Wagner gathered her belongings and she attempted to leave with a can of an alcoholic beverages while also appearing to be intoxicated, the report said. During this time, officers also discovered that Wagner was in possession of pipes used to smoke methamphetamine.
Lewistown man charged with simple assault, harassment
LEWISTOWN — A 31-year-old Lewistown man was charged with simple assault and harassment after an alleged domestic assault at 27 Chestnut St. in Lewistown at 11:11 p.m. on Aug. 26, according to a release issued by the Lewistown Police Department on Friday.
Jason M. Mellott Jr. was arguing with a female when he swung a long keychain lanyard which struck the female and caused bodily injury, the report said, and Mellott admitted to this act.
