Juniata County Commissioners accept resignation

Probation and parole officer furthers career

MIFFLINTOWN — Juniata County Commissioners accepted the letter of resignation from Taylor Gingrich from a probation and parole officer position as she moves on to further her career.

The resignation was approved during the Commissioner’s weekly meeting on Tuesday. Meanwhile, their office will be down a probation officer, the board said.

The Probation and Parole Department has a threefold responsibility.

The department is a subsidiary of the Court of Common Pleas of the 41st Judicial District, Juniata County Branch. The Probation and Parole Department is primarily responsible for the implementation of orders and directives of the court.

Officers are responsible for the protection of persons and property from individuals placed under the supervision of this department.

The Probation and Parole Department recognizes that as probation and parole officers, they have a responsibility to the probationer and parolee to render assistance, advice, and information.

Officers promote the restoration of the client to the community and ensure the client’s adjustment to supervision. This and more is stated on the department’s website at www.juniataco.org/departments/probation-parole.

Commissioners also:

• Approved hiring of Barbara Ramsey as a casual, part-time employee within the District Attorney’s Office to provide clerical services as needed at an hourly wage of $16.25 and a start date of Sept. 5. The position is classified at less than 1,000 hours per year and is not eligible for benefits nor is it part of the County’s Retirement Fund as outlined in the Juniata County Employee’s Retirement System Summary Plan;

• Approved the hiring of Beverly Fyler to fill the vacant caseworker position at Juniata County Children and Youth, effective Monday, Sept. 8. Fyler will be replacing Jensen Hart, who resigned July 11. Fyler’s starting salary will be $39,351;

• Approved the hiring of Adam Eubanks as a casual, part-time employee within the security department to provide security services as needed at an hourly wage of $22.41 and a start date of Sept. 3. The position is classified at less than 1,000 hours per year and is not eligible for benefits nor is it part of the County’s Retirement Fund as outlined in the Juniata County Employee’s Retirement System Summary Plan.
