MIFFLINTOWN — The Juniata County Historical Society was awarded a $5,000 grant from America250PA’s second Semiquincentennial Grant Round for our Juniata County’s Celebration of America’s 250th birthday. The required 50/50 match was provided by the Juniata River Valley Visitor’s Bureau. This funding enables the county’s America250PA efforts to plan this once-in-a-generation event, scheduled for June 13, 2026 in McAlisterville. “We are excited to contribute to Pennsylvania’s celebration of the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence–and to engage our neighbors in meaningful ways that reflect our shared values while pointing toward a hopeful future,” said Jessica Guyer, President of the Juniata County Historical Society and County Advisor for America250PA. “Many people in our county fondly remember the 1976 Bicentennial and are anxious to relive those happy feelings, many through the eyes of their children or grandchildren. We want our residents and visitors to walk away from this event proud of their shared history, more educated on community roots and how far we’ve come, and with a heightened sense of unity.”

“It’s thrilling to see so many Pennsylvania communities and organizations stepping up with meaningful, engaging, and inspiring plans as we approach the Semiquincentennial,” said Cassandra Coleman, Executive Director of America250PA. “These grants are giving Pennsylvanians the tools to come together, remember where we’ve been, and imagine what comes next. America250PA is incredibly proud to support this work, and grateful to Gov.

Shapiro and the General Assembly for making it possible.”
