Officials approve personnel and activity advisors
LEWISTOWN — The Mifflin County School Board of Directors met Thursday for a special voting meeting to approve personnel items and extracurricular activity advisors.
Directors approved all personnel items in a roll call vote at the start of the meeting.
A few highlights in the personnel list include resignations, new hires, and athletics staff.
Resignations
The Mifflin County School Board of Directors:
• Approved the resignation of Jill C. Conner, a 6.75-hour full-time kitchen helper on the hot grill line at MCHS, effective
Aug. 3;
• Approved the resignation of MCSD System Support Specialist Austin A. Hess, effective Aug. 29;
• Approved the resignation of LIS Full-Time Autistic Support Paraprofessional Steven B. Molinaro, effective Sept. 1;
• Approved the resignation of Shaylene D. Small, a 2-hour part-time café — breakfast cashier at MCHS, effective Aug. 12;
• Approved the resignation of LES Full-Time Autistic Support Paraprofessional Jaylyn N. Moore, effective Aug. 13;
• Approved the resignation of Crystal L. Long, a 3-hour part-time café — cashier at IVES/IVIS, effective Oct. 3. Long is keeping her 2-hour part-time position;
• Approved the resignation of MCMS Paraprofessional Debra D. Stringfellow, effective Aug. 11;
• Approved the resignation of MCSD (Displaced) Paraprofessional Madisyn G. Baumgardner, effective Aug. 17;
• Approved the resignation of Sherry L. Hockenberry, a 3-hour part-time cafe — server-dishwasher at LES, effective Aug. 20.
New hires
Directors also:
• Approved hiring Noah K. Wright as the EDES and MCJHS Health and Physical Education Teacher retroactive to Aug. 20, at a salary of $50,855;
• Approved hiring Michala R. Weidler as an LES Long-Term Substitute and Learning Support Teacher retroactive to Aug. 20, at a salary of $50,855. (No seniority will be accrued;)
• Approved hiring Brittany Melius as a 3-hour part-time café — cashier at LES at $14.75 per hour, pending completion of new hire paperwork and clearances;
• Approved hiring Bobbie J. Keiser as a 5.25-hour part-time café — breakfast cashier/server-dishwasher at LES at $14.75 per hour, pending completion of new hire paperwork and clearances;
• Approved hiring Amy L. Granby as a 2-hour part-time café — breakfast cashier at MCHS at $14.75 per hour, effective Aug. 25. Amy will hold this position in addition to her 3-hour part-time cafeteria position at IVE/IS;
• Approved hiring Pamela K. Fortuna as a cafeteria substitute at MCSD at $13.25 per hour pending completion of new hire paperwork and clearances;
• Approved hiring Aimee N. Spicher as a 4-hour part-time café — prep/server at LES at $14.75 per hour pending completion of new hire paperwork and clearances.
Paid athletics
Directors:
• Approved Neal A. Yorks as the junior high assistant softball coach for the Fall 2025 season with a salary of $1,680, effective Aug. 18.
Volunteer Athletics
Directors:
• Approved Hailee A. Sheetz as the field hockey coach for the Fall 2025 season, effective Aug. 11;
• Approved Brett M. Leister as the junior high football coach for the fall 2025 season, effective Aug. 13;
• Approved Nathan D. Poche as the junior high football coach for the fall 2025 season, effective Aug. 14;
• Approved Gabriella R. Wolfkill as the volleyball coach for the fall 2025 season, effective Aug. 18.
The Board also approved the extracurricular activities advisors and supplemental advisors for the 2025-26 school year. Advisors receive a stipend, according to a collective bargaining agreement, paid twice a year in December and May.
Those who advise activities include 59 Mifflin County High School teachers/staff, 28 Mifflin County High School teachers/staff, 31 Mifflin County Middle School teachers/staff, and 9 Lewistown Intermediate School teachers/staff.
