THOMPSONTOWN — The coroner was called to a crash at around 9:15 a.m. Friday that shut down an area of U.S. 322 for many hours

Emergency crews were called to the area of the Locust Run overpass in response to a reported vehicle crash with multiple injuries and entrapment.

Upon arrival, Thompsontown Fire Co. Capt. Greg Walton said firefighters retrieved one individual from a vehicle.

US 322 East was closed until about 1:30 p.m. for scene reconstruction.

Thompsontown was assisted by Mifflintown Hose Co, Millerstown Fire Co, Port Royal EMS, Central Juniata EMS, Millerstown EMS, Fame EMS, Juniata County Sheriff’s Office, Pennsylvania State Police, Juniata County Coroners Office and PennDOT.

The name of the deceased was not released as of press time Friday.
