From Staff Reports

RICHFIELD — A 33-year-old man is facing felony charges after police said he sexually abused a child.

According to the Affidavit of Probable Cause, Pennsylvania State Police and Juniata County Children and Youth took custody of a child on Sept. 1, after being advised to keep Hughes away from the home following previous child abuse allegations.

Polilce said the foster parents took the child to the hospital on Sept. 3 for a pelvic exam which indicated that sexual abuse had occurred.

Additionally, Christie Lynn Foose, 38, of Richfield is being charged for child endangerment for not keeping Hughes away from the child. The report states that a Juniata County caseworker told Foose that Hughes was a threat to both herself and the child and advised her to keep him away from the residence. The report says that Foose agreed, then failed to do so.

Hughes is being held in Mifflin County Correctional Facility, unable to post $100,000 bail. He is awaiting a preliminary hearing set for 9 a.m. Sept. 20
