Police seek information in criminal mischief

THOMPSONTOWN — Pennsylvania State Police-Lewistown are investigating a reported damaged mailbox on Route 235, Delaware Township, Juniata County.

Police said an incident occurred between 5 p.m. Feb. 18 and 8 a.m. Feb. 19. It is being investigated as a criminal mischief case.

Identity theft being investigated

THOMPSONTOWN — Pennsylvania State Police-Lewistown are investigating an incident involving identity theft.

The incident was reported at 12:50 a.m. Feb. 22, on William Penn Highway, Delaware Township, Juniata County. Police said the theft occurred via an unemployment claim.

Man arrested on DUI

MIFFLINTOWN — A Milroy man was arrested at about 1:30 a.m. Feb. 12 after Pennsylvania State Police-Lewistown said he was driving under the influence of alcohol.

Police said David Bailets, 43, was driving a 2021 Chevrolet Equinox along William Penn Highway/Bridge Street when he was pulled over.

Theft of paycheck reported

MIFFLINTOWN — Pennsylvania State Police-Lewistown are seeking information regarding a stolen Mifflintown man’s paycheck that had been stolen and cashed.

Police said the incident occurred at about 2:30 p.m. Feb. 24 in South Middleton Township, Cumberland County. The check was valued at $693.77.

Anyone with information is asked to contact state police.

Driver, passenger charged with DUI

MIFFLINTOWN — Two individuals were charged at about 9 p.m. Feb. 7 after Pennsylvania State Police-Lewistown pulled over a vehicle due to an inoperable headlight.

Police said the passenger was found to be in possession of a small amount of marijuana and paraphernalia while the driver was found to be under the influence of alcohol.

Laurel Saner, 22, of Lewistown and Treavor Hackenberg, 24, of McVeytown, were charged.

Lewistown man arrested for trespassing

BURNHAM –Mifflin County Regional Police arrested 36-year-old Shawn Eckley, of Lewistown, at about 5:15 a.m. Monday after police said he was trespassing at the Burnham Sheetz store.

Upon arrival, officers identified Eckley, noting that they had received numerous warnings against him at this location.

When confronted, police said Eckley became argumentative and resisted handcuffing efforts.

Eckley was taken into custody and placed in Mifflin County Correctional Facility.

Meth found in driver’s system

LEWISTOWN — A man who was previously pulled over for suspected DUI was found to have methamphetamine and amphetamine in his system.

At about 11:45 p.m. Feb. 7, Mifflin County Regional Police attempted to stop a 1998 Chevrolet truck for a traffic violation.

The Chevrolet refused to yield and a slow speed vehicle pursuit ensued.

According to the report, the vehicle finally stopped at a residence in Decatur Township. The driver, 46-year-old Joshua G. Aumiller, was found to be under the influence of an unknown substance.

At that time, police impounded the Chevrolet and obtained a search warrant for the vehicle.

During the search, officers located numerous items of drug paraphernalia and about 29 grams of methamphetamine.

Charges were filed through Magisterial District Judge Jonathan Reed’s office.

Harassment charges filed against man

PORT ROYAL — Harassment charges have been filed against 51-year-oldd Wayko Varnes, of Port Royal.

According to the police report, Pennsylvania State Police-Lewistown were notified at 10:15 p.m. Feb. 23 of an incident that occurred at Blue Water Saloon, Mifflin.
