The Spahr Family, Lewistown

I belong to a family of patriots. Phillip Adam Sparr (b.1745) near Dover, Pa., my 5 X great grandfather, fought in the American Revolution. Pictured are my parents, Richard and Margaret Spahr, who were regular Army before WWII. Mom served 30 months in India (Burma campaign) caring for men fighting the Japanese. Mom was also a Mifflin County “Brotherhood” award winner. Dad went into combat D plus nine and finished in Pilsen, Czech Republic in 1945. I served during Viet Nam and for a time helped bury USAF personnel at Arlington Cemetery. My nephew, Ray Snyder, was a submariner in the Navy. My son retired from the Army after 20 years with tours in Bosnia, Iraq and Afghanistan. To take the oath and faithfully serve our Country is an honor my family has upheld since the Declaration of Independence 250 years ago.
