Pesticide recertification credits offered at workshop
UNIVERSITY PARK — An upcoming Penn State Extension workshop will offer pesticide applicators, arborists and landscapers the opportunity to earn pesticide recertification credits before September deadlines while gaining practical insights on pest identification, fertilizer rules and safety.
The “Landscape Meeting” workshop will be Sept. 23 from 9 a.m. to noon at Penn State Extension’s York County office, 2401 Pleasant Valley Rd., York.
Landscape and turf-care professionals have a timely opportunity to earn pesticide recertification credits before license renewal deadlines at the end of September, organizers noted. This focused session offers practical, up-to-date information to help meet continuing education requirements while strengthening industry knowledge.
Among other topics, the meeting will cover:
Ornamental plant and turf pest identification and management.
Environmental regulations for fertilizer use.
Core pesticide safety principles.
Pesticide applicator recertification credits are available in the following categories: core, 06, 07 and 23. Certified arborists can earn continuing education units from the International Society of Arboriculture. Continuing education credits also are available from the Pennsylvania Landscape and Nursery Association.
The deadline for registration, which carries a $10 fee, is 11:59 p.m. Sept. 22.
