PestWatch webpage provides updates to vegetable growers

UNIVERSITY PARK — Penn State Extension now publishes the PestWatch Report, a weekly online report that provides sweet-corn growers with statewide pest trap counts and timely management recommendations.

Heather Grab, assistant professor of vegetable entomology in Penn State’s College of Agricultural Sciences, authors the report. She contributes to statewide research and extension efforts focused on vegetables and other specialty crops.

Grab supports the PestWatch sweet corn pest monitoring program by providing integrated pest management strategies to control corn earworm. In collaboration with the Southern IPM Center, she also developed visualizations that show trap catches across Pennsylvania by location and over time.

The data and graphics on the PestWatch site update in real time as reports come in — mostly Mondays and Tuesdays — and Grab updates the text every Wednesday.

Growers can find the weekly report on the Penn State Extension website.

Starting at $2.99/week.
