Centers in Motion plans sweet spring getaway to Hershey
YEAGERTOWN — A relaxing spring day, good company and a destination that never loses its charm are all part of an upcoming Centers in Motion bus trip to Hershey. Adults ages 55 and older from Mifflin and Juniata counties are invited to join the fun on Friday, April 24, for a full-day getaway that combines scenery, history and a little chocolate indulgence.
Hershey has long been a favorite destination for group trips, and this outing is shaping up to be another popular one. From peaceful garden walks to lively trolley rides and the unmistakable aroma of chocolate drifting through town, the day promises plenty to enjoy. Organizers note that seating is limited and early reservations are strongly encouraged.
The cost of the trip is $45 per person, which includes round-trip bus transportation, admission to the renowned Hershey Gardens, a guided bus tour of the town and a narrated Hershey Trolley Works tour. Participants will spend time at Hershey’s Chocolate World, where lunch will be on your own. While the cost of the meal is not included, Chocolate World offers a variety of dining options along with shopping and classic Hershey attractions.
The day begins with departure at 7:45 a.m.from the Lewistown Senior Citizen Center, located at 515 Knepp Ave. in Lewistown, followed by an 8:15 a.m. pickup at Cedar Grove Brethren in Christ Church, 287 Deerville Road, Mifflintown. The group is scheduled to arrive at Hershey Gardens at 9:30 a.m., giving travelers time to enjoy one of the area’s most beautiful springtime destinations. With flowers in bloom, winding paths, and quiet corners to explore, the gardens provide a relaxing and scenic start to the day.
At 11:45 a.m., the bus will head to Chocolate World. For many, this stop is a highlight — the smell of chocolate fills the air, shelves are stocked with sweet souvenirs, and the atmosphere brings out smiles and nostalgia. It’s the perfect place to enjoy lunch, browse, and take in the energy of Hershey.
The afternoon continues at 2 p.m. with a guided trolley tour through Hershey. The Hershey Trolley Works ride offers entertaining stories, music, and insights into the life of Milton S. Hershey and the town he built, blending history with humor in a relaxed setting.
The group will depart Hershey at 3 p.m., with an expected return to Cedar Grove Brethren in Christ Church and the Lewistown Senior Citizen Center between 4 and 4:30 p.m.
Organizers say the trip is designed to be enjoyable, easy, and memorable. Hershey is always a fun destination, they said. Between the gardens, the trolley tour and Chocolate World, it’s a great way to spend a spring day with friends. This trip should be a blast.
Because seating is very limited, reservations must be made by Monday, April 13. To reserve a seat or for more information, contact Beth Harlan at (717) 320-8367 or email bharlan@mymjrsc.com.
