Allensville shop asks customers to look up

ALLENSVILLE — The way Ben Swarey explains it, the shop began with a $30 telescope. He found it at a local thrift and gift store. He had already been interested in astronomy, but that telescope gave the interest a place to go. He looked up, saw more above him than most people noticed, and kept going. Road work planned across Juniata County

From staff reports MIFFLINTOWN — The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation has released its maintenance schedule for Juniata County for the week of July 6. Motorists should expect lane restrictions, flagging operations and possible pilot vehicles at several work sites throughout the county. All work is weather permitting. Two charged in Kish Park tent fire

LEWISTOWN — Two men are facing felony arson charges after authorities allege one of them set fire to a tent at Derry Park while the other supplied the torch lighter used to ignite it following a dispute among campers. Colin Wayne Herman, 29, of Lewistown, and Whitney Wilson Heaps, 42, of York, each face felony arson and misdemeanor criminal mischief charges stemming from the June 29 fire at the campground in Derry Township.
