Free military meals available Nov. 5

LEWISTOWN — Geisinger will honor local military veterans with free appreciation dinners Nov. 5, including drive-through events in Lewistown and Mifflintown. The dinners will be offered from 3 to 5:30 p.m. at Geisinger Lewistown Hospital, 400 Highland Ave., with pickup at the third-floor hospital entrance, and Geisinger Mifflintown, 27 CJEMS Lane. Veterans may reserve a dinner for themselves and one guest. Servings are limited, and registration is required by Friday, Oct. 30. Mount Nittany, union ratify new three-year contract

STATE COLLEGE — Mount Nittany Medical Center and SEIU Healthcare Pennsylvania have finalized a new three-year collective bargaining agreement that includes wage increases, new paid parental leave and additional workplace safety measures. Citations filed after domestic dispute MIFFLIN — Pennsylvania State Police at Lewistown responded to a reported domestic dispute at 104 Juniata St. in Mifflin Borough at about 9:11 p.m. Sept. 12. Police identified Christian Torres Santiago, 25, of Mifflin, and Daneyris Martinez Santana, 26, of Mifflin, as both victims and arrestees. VA awards $44.7M to fight veteran homelessness in Pa.

ALTOONA — The Department of Veterans Affairs has awarded nearly $44.7 million in grants to Pennsylvania community organizations to assist veterans who are homeless or at risk of becoming homeless. The funding, totaling $44,696,208 for fiscal year 2027, is part of a record $1.17 billion awarded to 680 organizations nationwide.
