Grunkemeyer set to join Hokies

Former Penn State quarterback Ethan Grunkemeyer has found a new home, going to play for James Franklin and Virginia Tech.

Grunkemeyer threw for 1,339 yards, eight touchdowns and four interceptions in 11 games with the Nittany Lions this season. He will also be joined by a couple former PSU teammates in edge rusher Daniel Jennings and tight end Matt Henderson in Blacksburg.

Former PSU cornerback Elliot Washington II found a new home at Clemson, where he will be coached by former Lions defensive coordinator Tom Allen, who holds the same position with the Tigers.

The number of former Iowa State players transferring to Penn State is now at 18. Newcomers include linebackers Caleb Bacon and Cael Brezina, running back Carson Hansen, offensive linemen Kuol Kuol II, Trevor Buhr, Kooper Ebel, and Alijah Carnell, wide receivers Karon Brookins and Chase Sowell, and safeties Jamison Patton and Hunter Sowell.

Cornerback Kenny Woseley and offensive lineman Brady O’Hara both entered the transfer portal, while offensive lineman Malachi Goodman intends to stay in State College.
