Lions roar in NFL Week 2 action

UNIVERSITY PARK – Week Two in the National Football League saw 45 Penn State Football alums populate the rosters of 24 National Football League organizations, with multiple former Nittany Lions’ pass catchers delivering impressive performances.

Indianapolis rookie tight end Tyler Warren left his mark in the Colts’ victory over Denver, finishing with four receptions for 79 cards, including a 41-yard reception in the first quarter. Warren leads or co-leads all NFL tight ends in receiving yards (155), yards after the catch (92) and contested catches (three).

Jacksonville wide receiver Parker Washington also impressed in his team’s loss to Cincinnati, leading his team was 76 receiving yards and catching all five of his targets. On the opposing sideline, Bengals wide receiver Mitchell Tinsley made the most of his lone target, catching a 13-yard touchdown for his first career score.

Notable performances on all three phases included Philadelphia running back Saquon Barkley, who delivered another good outing (94 total yards, including a 13-yard rushing touchdown) as the Eagles defeated Kansas City. On defense, Miami linebacker Chop Robinson shined in his team’s loss to New England, racking up a second-quarter sack, plus a quarterback hit and two solo tackles. And on special teams, Baltimore punter Jordan Stout had a busy but productive afternoon against Cleveland, helping to flip the field by delivering two of his five punts inside the Browns’ 20-yard line.
