For Babe Ruth All-Stars, tourney trail starts in Williamsport

LEWISTOWN — The Mifflin County Babe Ruth 15-16-year-old All-Stars start the tournament trail on Thursday in Williamsport, with the Mid-Atlantic Regionals being the first step. There will be three games before the semifinals and finals. Mifflin County will open play against Scranton on Thursday at 5 p.m. Then on Friday, at 8 p.m, Mifflin County plays Atlantic Shore (Atlantic City) and on Saturday at 8 p.m., Mifflin County takes on the host team, West End, at 7 p.m. The semifinals and the finals will be on Sunday. METHACTON — The Mifflin County 8-year-old Cal Ripken All-Stars saw its season come to an end in the state quarterfinals over the weekend. They went 2-2. In the first game on Saturday, Mifflin County beat East Brandywine, 22-4. But in the second game they fell to Methacton, 16-2. On Sunday, Mifflin County topped Daniel Boone, 3-2; however, the local All-Stars were eliminated by Spring-Ford, 10-0.
